Power
Boat Fiesta Gears up for next weekend…
Lots of Prizes and Entertainment for all to enjoy…
Date change to Sunday
13th April 2008
Power Boating
fever is back in Antigua once again! It’s now only one week
to go before we kick off series of Power Boating events with the
staging of Power Boat Fiesta 2008. As we visited the Shell Beach
Marina and other locations, many Power Boat owners on the island
are making final preparations to take to the water as some of
our faster boats along with an entry from St. Kitts and Nevis
will be featured at next weekends Poker Run event.
With the recent rough waters which plagued the islands over the
past two weeks, boaters didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy
the usual Easter weekend frolic on the water in Antigua; however
with Power Boat Fiesta, boaters will again have the opportunity
to bring out the entire family and have a really grand time both
on and off the water.
Starting at the Jolly Harbour Super Yacht Terminal, boats will
run along a course which will take them along Johnson’s
Point, Deep Bay, Runaway Bay, around Maiden Island, into Parham
Harbour ending at our Party Zone on Runaway Bay. Once all boats
have completed the set course, there will then be a featured Jet
Ski/ Jet Bike race along a course between Runaway Bay and Dickenson
Bay.
There will be lots of prizes and surprises for everyone. Prizes
will include trophies and over EC$5,000.00 in cash for winners
of the Best Poker Hand 1st – 3rd, Best Looking Crew, Most
Outstanding Vessel, 1st and 2nd place in the Jet Race and lots
more.
Sail Boats are also getting involved as we have already picked
up one vessel from the Jolly Harbour Marina which will be anchored
out at the Johnson’s Point stage as once of our official
card boats (thanks to Jo-ann and Ian). We have sent out our details
to all boaters and we are still hoping to pick up a few more sail
boats or yachts who will either serve as Card Boats or simply
come out to take in the event.
Spectators are invited to come down to Runaway Bay where they
will experience a breath-taking view of the competing boats as
they pass along the set course making a card stop close to our
spectator point for some added excitement. The Jet Bikes being
set out on the course will also provide our spectators with even
more excitement.
Sounds exciting? From 10:00AM, the party zone on Runaway Bay
will come alive with music by the ever popular Chi Ckie’s
Hi Fi and DJ Arron. Sweet T’s will be serving up tasty food
off the grill and there will be lots of drink specials all day
long including 2 for 1 special on Carib Beer.
Appealing to our sail boats once again. You do not have to be
left out. Take a mid-morning cruise and anchor along Runaway Bay
at our party zone area and witness this event, or become involved
and be an official Card Boat. Boats must be anchored and out of
the way of the course before 12:00NOON and Card Boats must be
in place by 11:00AM.
