Christian Tam’s 10 Seconds Skyline
Fully Street Legal Skyline Stuns the Crowd in Antigua…

Fully Street Legal Skyline Stuns the Crowd at Invasion 2007…
We have been around Drag Racing now for several years; actually
ever since it was legally introduced in Antigua back in November
1999 with the official opening of the John I Martin IV & V
Recreational Center.
Back then, drag racing was now pretty much a new thing to many
of us on the island. There were not as many full bodied race cars
in Antigua as we now have today. Street racing was at its peak
and there were quiet a large number of street legal cars which
at the time marveled those of us who turned out for any race event.
To this day, when we make mention of impressive street legal
vehicles, the names Ewart Harney, Eddie Hadeed, Paul Ryan and
many others will still come to mind as these were amongst the
names that went the extra mile in preparing their vehicles to
compete against each other when they had the opportunity.
With the introduction of a private drag strip to the island,
some of the street legal vehicles continued to chip away at the
clock getting faster and faster which brought about the record
breaking times of Ewart Harney running 10.4 and 10.6 with his
Toyota MR-2 and Celica GT-4 respectively. Since then, only a handful
of street legal vehicles were able to get into the 10 seconds
class but that number in surely on the rise as many street legal
projects are yet to come.
During the June 2007 Invasion of the Imports, Antigua was introduced
to yet another very impressive street legal vehicle owned driven
by Christian Tam of Trinidad & Tobago. Our CMW crew was at
the drag strip during early qualifying rounds of Invasion to see
the very well prepared Nissan Skyline make a few passes without
the lights however on his second pass for the morning, the vehicle
damaged its rear axels which unfortunately forced it out of competition.
With the decision to put on yet another regional event, Christian
Tam and his engineer made their way back up to Antigua days prior
to competition to make their necessary repairs to the vehicle
and indeed their hard work paid off. The Skyline brought back
memories of Mr. Eddie Hadeed as Tam made consecutive and very
easy 10 second passes during the qualifying rounds of the August
event.
While we will be featuring several street legal vehicles on our
site this year, CMW would like to congratulate Christian Tam of
Trinidad & Tobago on his outstanding performance in Antigua.
CMW thanks you for your support towards our events and we will
continue to follow the developments of the Skyline as he prepares
for competition in Trinidad and around the region once again.
